Blue Cross Blue Shield wins award for social networking site Posted: June 27th, 2011
Citing a high standard of planning, execution and professionalism, Interactive Media Award (IMA) recently presented Blue Cross Blue Shield with an Outstanding Achievement award for its My Blue Community website. The honor, given in the social networking category, is the second highest bestowed by the organization.
Originally developed by Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield, My Blue Community was chosen by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) for its Blue365 program. Member companies can voluntarily participate in the program, and more than seven million health insurance subscribers nationwide are eligible to create profiles on My Blue Community.
Once registered, members can interact with other users by participating in online discussions regarding health care and wellness topics. In addition, the website provides blogs that span a range of interests including parenting, fitness and nutrition. Blue Cross Blue Shield also offers access to cooking and health coaching experts through My Blue Community.
"Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies are committed to providing members with tools such as My Blue Community that help them to maintain healthy lifestyles and make informed healthcare decisions," said Scott P. Serota, president and CEO of the BCBSA, in a press statement. "We're honored that the Interactive Media Award judges found My Blue Community to be as helpful of a resource as our members do."
