Empire BlueCross BlueShield unveils virtual open enrollment center Posted: November 9th, 2010
The autumn months bring not only Halloween and Thanksgiving, but also open enrollment for group insurance plans. In New York, members of Empire BlueCross BlueShield will have access to a new tool intended to help them choose the right health insurance.
The insurer announced a new virtual enrollment center that will allow workers to explore their insurance options in an interactive, multimedia environment. Visitors to the center will find personalized information from their employer in addition to features such as:
- Simple key word search capability
- Content library
- Downloadable enrollment documents
- Health plan details
- Participating provider lists
- Web link directory
Human resource departments also have the ability to customize the virtual enrollment center for their employees. A video spokesperson greets each visitor with a message specifically created for their company. Additional content can be published as needed, and employee usage can be tracked.
In a statement, Empire BlueCross BlueShield said it hopes the virtual center will help businesses to engage their employees in the open enrollment process and encourage them to fully explore their insurance options. A demonstration site for the virtual center can be accessed online.
