Molina Healthcare of Florida receives accreditation for new plan Posted: January 27th, 2011
In 2008, Molina Healthcare of Florida was granted its HMO license by the state. Now, the insurer's managed care plan has been accredited by the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA).
"Health plans that step forward to participate in NCQA's New Health Plan Accreditation program early on in their history are to be especially commended," said Margaret E. O'Kane, NCQA president, in a statement. "Our standards are rigorous, and by meeting them Molina Healthcare of Florida has shown that it is well designed and serious about the quality of care it provides."
As a private, non-profit organization, the NCQA evaluates a health plan's ability to manage its services and improve care for its subscribers. Molina Healthcare of Florida was granted the NCQA New Health Plan Accreditation, which is separate from the committee's regular health plan accreditation. The new plan accreditation is only offered to health plans that have been active for fewer than 36 months.
Molina Healthcare of Florida serves 57,000 members in seven counties.
