UnitedHealth Group offers consumer tools in honor of American Heart Month Posted: February 14th, 2011
Perhaps better known for chocolate hearts on Valentine's Day, February has also been proclaimed American Heart Month by the U.S. President every year since 1963, according to the American Heart Association. To commemorate the month, UnitedHealthcare is joining Women's Day magazine to offer consumer tools and resources.
A health insurance company within UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare is sponsoring the Women's Day Red Dress Awards, according to a news release. The awards honor those who are working to reduce heart disease in America, particularly among women. In addition to sponsoring the awards, UnitedHealthcare will host a series of webinars, including a Women's Day webinar scheduled for Feb. 25, that will focus on women's heart health and preventive care.
Three other American Heart Month initiatives being launched by the health insurance company:
- A clinical study to determine which heart health interventions are most effective for women ages 65 and older
- A web-based tool that provides age and gender specific preventive care recommendations
- Mobile access to preventive care tools
The new offerings will join UnitedHealth Group's existing programs that encourage cardiovascular health. These include a coronary artery disease program, heart failure program and a diabetes health plan.
